Jozy Altidore has replaced Toronto FC teammate Sebastian Giovinco on the MLS All-Star team ahead of Wednesday night's match against Tottenham at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, the league announced.
Giovinco is nursing a heel injury and is the second TFC player to withdraw after Michael Bradley pulled out of the game Tuesday with a calf strain. Bradley was one of four players to back out Tuesday, joining Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane and Chris Tierney.
Altidore has seven goals this season, including a late penalty kick over the weekend that capped TFC's 3-3 draw with Columbus after the Reds were down 3-0. Giovinco has 13 goals and 10 assists in his debut season in the league, second in both categories among all players.
In addition to Altidore, Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Clint Irwin was added to the roster as a third goalkeeper behind Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando and Vancouver Whitecaps' David Ousted.
