Afghan boy with plastic bag jersey receives real signed Lionel Messi kit

Murtaza Ahmadi, the five-year old Afghan boy who went viral on the internet for wearing a homemade soccer jersey made out of plastic bag, has received a real jersey from FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi, UNICEF announced.
In January, Ahmadi was photographed wearing a white bag with blue stripes for a makeshift Messi jersey. Social media lit up in a search to find the child. Once Ahmadi's identity was revealed, the Afghanistan Football Federation reached out to Messi to set up a meeting with his fan.
“I love Messi and football. I will meet him one day,” Ahmadi said at the time. “I want to become like [Messi].”

The package sent to Ahmadi included an autographed Barcelona jersey and an Argentina national team jersey in addition to a signed soccer ball.
Ahmadi is just the latest young fan that Messi has found a way to connect with.
