Sunderland climbed out of the Premier League's relegation zone Tuesday, and has U.S. men's national team's DeAndre Yedlin, in part, to thank.

Yedlin assisted on Fabio Borini's 90th-minute equalizer against Crystal Palace, salvaging a 2-2 draw and bringing Sunderland to 24 points on the season. Norwich (which fell to Chelsea on Tuesday) and Newcastle (which plays at Stoke City on Wednesday) also have 24 points, but Sunderland has a better goal differential on both. All three are well clear of last-place Aston Villa, which continued its losing ways with a 3-1 defeat to Everton and sits on 16 points.

Yedlin, who has been restored to manager Sam Allardyce's starting lineup, rolled a pass forward for Borini on the right channel, and the Italian forward unleashed a right-footed strike on the run to rescue the point.
