MLB Playoff Market on Kalshi Signals Tight Race Including Tigers, Rangers, Padres

Just over one month out from the MLB playoffs, and Kalshi’s MLB playoff market has a tight race on the board for the final AL and NL playoff spots. The Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, and Detroit Tigers are all in the running for the final spot.

The Rangers have the highest price of the three at 55%, followed by the Padres at 53%, and the Tigers with 37%.

Kalshi settles the market on whether the teams make the playoffs. Trading $10 profits $7.47 on the Rangers, $8.26 for the Padres, and $15.86 on the Tigers.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers currently hold the sixth American League playoff spot and are in the best position of the three. They sit just a half-game out from the Houston Astros in fifth and 2.5 games from the Chicago White Sox in fourth. In the other direction, one game ahead of both the Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers.

The Rangers have a strong case to pull further ahead in the race over the next two weeks with series against the Athletics, Washington Nationals, and Los Angeles Angels all still to come. The Rangers’ price has risen 15% in the last week after they won four of their last five games.

San Diego Padres

The Padres sit one game back of the sixth-place Arizona Diamondbacks at 63-57 at the time of writing. San Diego has been one of the hottest teams since coming out of the All-Star break going 15-9.

They should be able to bulk up their record a bit more with their next four series coming against teams sitting under a .500 record. However, their final nine series include the Rays, Yankees, Dodgers, and a potential deciding series against the Diamondbacks. The Padres price to make the playoffs on Kalshi surged 38% over the last three weeks.

Detroit Tigers

No Tarik Skubal, no problem for the Detroit Tigers. Since Skubal played his last game for the Tigers on July 29th, they’ve gone 7-2 and jumped the Seattle Mariners, Toronto Blue Jays, Baltimore Orioles, and Cleveland Guardians in the standings.

Riding that momentum, the Tigers could enter the playoff race soon, with three of their next four series against the Guardians, Pirates, and Royals.
