NASCAR fines Ricky Stenhouse Jr.'s crew chief $50,000 for infraction
NASCAR has fined Mike Kelley, the crew chief for Ricky Stenhouse Jr., $50,000 for a rules infraction discovered before the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, NASCAR announced Thursday.
The infraction was discovered during a pre-qualifying inspection last Friday. It was found that there was an issue with the suspension mounts on Stenhouse's car that allowed for illegal movement or realignment beyond normal rotation.
Stenhouse was not penalized for the infraction and went on to finish 22nd in the Ford EcoBoost 400 on Sunday.
In addition to the fine, Kelley was placed on probation for six months. His probationary period begins Jan. 1, 2015, and ends June 30. Roush Fenway Racing car chief Patrick Magee was also placed on probation for six months.

Stenhouse just finished his second year on the Sprint Cup Series circuit. After finishing 19th in points and winning rookie of the year honors in 2013, Stenhouse slipped to 27th in points this season.
