Injured NASCAR driver Kyle Busch taken to North Carolina hospital
Kyle Busch has been transported to a hospital in North Carolina for further treatment on the broken leg and foot he sustained in a crash during NASCAR's Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, according to Jay Pennell of Fox Sports.
Busch was involved in a multi-car crash with nine laps remaining in the race. His Toyota crashed into a wall at almost full speed. The driver sustained a broken right leg and a mid-foot fracture in his left foot.
He had surgery on his leg at Halifax Health Center in Florida and will now have additional surgery on his foot in North Carolina, according to Pennell.
Busch missed Sunday’s Daytona 500 because of his injuries and was replaced in the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 18 by two-time Truck Series champion Matt Crafton, who finished 19th.
Gibbs said on Monday that it was unclear how long Busch would be out.
Busch has 29 career Sprint Cup wins and finished fourth in the Chase for the Cup in 2013. Sunday’s race marked the first Daytona 500 since 2000 that did not include a Busch in the driver's seat.

Kyle’s brother, Kurt Busch, was indefinitely suspended by NASCAR after a Delaware court commissioner ruled the driver had committed an act of domestic violence against his former girlfriend.
