Daly returning to IndyCar Series at Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) Conor Daly will return to the IndyCar Series at the Grand Prix of Long Beach after Rocky Moran Jr. broke his thumb in practice.

Moran was set to make his IndyCar debut after Dale Coyne Racing put him in the car in place of Carlos Huertas, but he broke his thumb during a practice session Friday.

Daly last raced in IndyCar at the 2013 Indianapolis 500, where he finished 22nd for A.J. Foyt Racing. Daly's father, Derek, is a former Formula One and IndyCar driver.

Daly has three starts at Long Beach, winning the 2011 Indy Lights race.
