Gonzalez to drive for Dale Coyne at Alabama IndyCar race

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Rodolfo Gonzalez will make his IndyCar Series debut for Dale Coyne Racing at Barber Motorsports Park.

The Venezuelan will become the fourth driver to take the wheel of the team's No. 18 Honda in a two-week span at Sunday's Indy Grand Prix of Alabama.

Conor Daly finished 17th at the Grand Prix of Long Beach after Rocky Moran Jr. broke his thumb in practice before what was to be his IndyCar debut. Moran was announced a day earlier to replace Carlos Huertas.

Gonzalez made 64 starts on the GP2 Series from 2009-12. He then worked as a test driver with Marussia's Formula One team, making eight appearances in 2013. He tested with Dale Coyne Racing at Sebring.

Francesco Dracone will make his fourth consecutive start in the No. 19 Honda.
