Monday May 4th, 2015

Nastia Liukin will be the Grand Marshal for the 2015 Indy 500, which will take place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 24.

Liukin won five medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, including the all-around gold. She also won nine medals at World Championships.

Liukin retired from gymnastics at 22 after failing to qualify for the 2012 Olympics in London. She is currently a junior at New York University and is a participant on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."

Danica Patrick addresses if she feels she's held to a different standard

"I have very fond memories of competing and performing in Indianapolis, and I will actually be back again in August for the P&G Gymnastics Championships," Liukin said in a news release. "I'm really honored to be the Grand Marshal for this year's Indianapolis 500. It will be so exciting to witness 'The Greatest Spectacle in Racing' - I can't wait!"

As Grand Marshal, Liukin will be introduced to the crowd before the race and take a parade lap around the track.
