MEXICO CITY (AP) Nico Rosberg edged out Mercedes teammate and arch-rival Lewis Hamilton for the fastest lap in the final practice for the Mexican Grand Prix.

Rosberg's lap of 1 minute, 21.083 seconds was .014 seconds faster than Hamilton before they square off again in Saturday's qualifying for Sunday's race.

The drivers had far fewer problems at the resurfaced Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez than they did in Friday's practice sessions. Formula One is back in Mexico for the first time since 1992.

Hamilton won the season championship last week at the United States Grand Prix. Rosberg is dueling Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel for second in the driver's standings with three races to go.

Hamilton has 10 wins this season and could still tie Vettel's season record of 13, set with Red Bull in 2013.
