Taylor brothers earn IMSA victory at Belle Isle

DETROIT (AP) Jordan and Ricky Taylor raced to their second IMSA victory of the season Saturday at Belle Isle, holding off defending series champions Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi.

The Taylor brothers share the No. 10 Corvette DP for their father's Wayne Taylor Racing team. They also won this season at the Grand Prix of Long Beach, and they're now tied in the Prototype class standings with Barbosa and Fittipaldi. Barbosa and Fittipaldi have won the last two Prototype championships.

Barbosa and Fittipaldi started the race from the pole position and finished 1.740 seconds behind the winners.

Jordan Taylor took advantage of an opportunity on a restart 54 minutes into the 100-minute race.

''We talked about being conservative,'' Jordan Taylor said. ''But when I saw the opportunity so wide open, I knew it was a low risk so we jumped on it.''

Renger van der Zande and Alex Popow were third overall and first in the Prototype Challenge class. Ben Keating and Jeroen Bleekemolen won the GT Daytona class.

The timed race ran 56 laps around the Belle Isle street course. It was slowed by full-course caution four times for a total of 13 laps.
