NASCAR Truck Series driver tackled by opponent after controversial finish

Sunday’s Chevy Silverado 250 NASCAR Truck Series race ended in thrilling fashion and the action didn’t stop after the checkered flag.
John Hunter Nemechek and Cole Custer were neck-and-neck on the final lap when Nemechek bumped Custer just before the finish line. Both trucks skidded off into the grass and slid across the finish line.

After a lengthy review, Nemechek was declared the winner. Custer, who said later he thought Nemechek ran a dirty race, leapt over a barrier and tackled Nemechek as he waited to hear who would be declared the winner.

Nemechek said he didn’t think his maneuver was out of line.
“We didn’t wreck him for the win,” Nemechek said. “Rubbin’ is racin’.”
Custer, however, disagreed, saying he “got taken out.”
“He hit me going into the second-to-last corner, and he hit me again,” Custer said. “I don’t know what else to do. But that’s how it is, I guess.”
