Furniture Row names '17 crew chief for rookie Erik Jones

DENVER (AP) Furniture Row Racing has named a crew chief for the 2017 season for rookie Erik Jones.

FRR says Chris Gayle will call the shots for Jones in the No. 77 Toyota next year. Jones will join Martin Truex Jr. as Furniture Row expands to a two-car organization.

Gayle has 17 wins in the Xfinity Series and has spent the last 14 years at Joe Gibbs Racing. FRR formed a technical alliance with JGR this season and switched manufacturers to Toyota.

The 20-year-old Jones has three wins in the Xfinity Series this season driving for JGR. Gayle has nine wins this season in Xfinity with drivers Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Sam Hornish Jr.
