James Harrison Appeal Denied

Friday December 16th, 2011

The Associated Press reports that Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison will sit out Monday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Harrison appealed a one-game suspension for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy in the Steelers win over the Browns on Dec. 8.  McCoy suffered a concussion. The suspension was upheld today by NFL-NFLPA appeals officer Ted Cottrell.  The NFL suspended Harrison on Tuesday citing his history of flagrant hits.  He is the first player to be suspended under stricter guidelines for player safety.
