Rangers C Yovit Torrealba Suspended From Winter League After Striking Umpire In The Face

Texas Rangers back up catcher Yorvit Torrealba was handed down a major suspension that will keep him out of the Venezuelan League until after the 2013 season. It is unknown if his suspension will have any effect on his status with Major League Baseball.

The suspension was reportedly given today after the incident which occurred int he video below:

Torrealba, who struck an umpire in the face after arguing a call, will be suspended the remainder of this season and the entirety of the 2012 Venezuelan season, according to Sporting News. The suspension will total 66 games.
