Kobe Bryant is spending his off-season trying to avoid a divorce. The Orange County Register is reporting that he and Vanessa, his wife of 10 years, are working on their marriage and plan to stay together. According to reporter Janis Carr of the Orange County Register:

The two apparently are working on reconciling their marriage, meaning the divorce is off for now. Vanessa filed for a divorce last December after 10 years of drama-filled marriage that included rumors of infidelity. In the divorce, she was seeking joint legal and physical custody of their two daughters. [V]anessa made her first appearance at Staples Center on Valentine’s Day and the two were caught in a post-game smooch. The family also attended a Kings game at Staples.

Under California state law, couples must wait six months before a divorce becomes official and, according to TMZ.com, Vanessa is not signing the papers.

In related news, it was also reported by the Orange County Register that a fan paid $23,200 to play Bryant in a game of H-O-R-S-E in July. The game will be played at the Kobe Basketball Academy, according to Kevin Ding:

In another exercise to benefit Bryant’s family foundation and fight youth homelessness, a July 2 H-O-R-S-E game against Bryant went for $23,200 in a week-long auction that ended Monday at 4 p.m. Pacific time.

My favorite part of the eBay bidding history was one bidder offering $20,200 Wednesday and then cancelling it Friday with the explanation “can no longer pay.”
