Spurs forward Boris Diaw undergoes surgery, out 3-4 weeks

San Antonio Spurs forward Boris Diaw had a synovial cyst removed from his lumbar spine and is expected to miss three to four weeks, the team announced.

The surgery was performed Thursday in San Antonio.

Diaw has played in 75 games and started 20 games this season for the Spurs, and is averaging 5.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 22.8 minutes. The Spurs (57-21) trail the Oklahoma City Thunder by a half-game in the race for the top seed in the Western Conference with four games remaining in the regular season.
