The Baltimore Ravens have activated Dennis Pitta from injured reserve. The tight end has been practicing for the last three weeks and is expected to be on a limited snap count in his first game of the season.

Pitta is recovering from a hip surgery after suffering a broken and dislocated hip in July. Coach John Harbaugh said Monday that the decision to active Pitta would depend on how well he is feeling before the game. From ESPN's report:

"[The decision will] probably come down to the end of the week," Harbaugh said. "I've got a pretty good idea that he's doing well. It's just a matter of how well. Is he feeling good enough? Do the doctors feel like he's ready to play? That's what it's going to come down to."

Harbaugh said again Friday that there was a "reasonable" chance Pitta would play Sunday, making it relatively unsurprising to see him activated.

Pitta caught 61 passes for 669 yards and seven touchdowns in regular-season play in 2012, then added 14 receptions for 163 yards and three touchdowns in the postseason as the Ravens went on to win the Super Bowl.
