Juan Gonzalez auctioning his 1996 AL MVP award, other memorabilia

Three-time All-Star Juan Gonzalez, who last played in the majors in 2005 as a member of the Cleveland Indians, is auctioning off his American League MVP Award and other trophies and pieces of memorabilia he collected throughout his 16-year career.
According to the Lelands auction site, his AL MVP award has a bid of $11,000 (as of Thursday morning). He also won the award in 1998 but it's not up for auction.

Also included in his collection of awards listed on the site are his Babe Ruth Crown, which was issued to him by the Maryland Professional Baseball Players Association in 1992; his 1996 and 2001 Silver Slugger Awards; the Roberto Clemente Award he received in 1996; an AL Player of the Month Award; and various used game equipment.
The items from Gonzalez, who made more than $87 million in salary over his MLB career, will remain on auction until Jan. 10. The 44-year-old former outfielder finished with a .295 batting average, 1,936 hits, 434 home runs and 1,404 RBIs.
He made his big league debut in 1989 as a member of the Texas Rangers, spent 10 years with the team, and went on to have stints with the Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians, back to the Rangers in 2003-03, the Kansas City Royals and ultimately played his last game in May 2005 back as a member of the Indians.
