Former NFL cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha will retire after 11 NFL seasons after signing a one-day contract with the Oakland Raiders, the team announced Thursday.

Asomugha signed with the San Francisco 49ers in the offseason, but was released last month.

Asomugha, 32, spent his first eight seasons with the Raiders after being drafted with the 31st pick in the 1st round of the 2003 NFL Draft.

He was one of the best cornerbacks in the league during that time, making three Pro Bowls and being named a two-time first-Team All-Pro.
