Carmelo Anthony set the season high for points in a game while also breaking the New York Knicks and Madison Square Garden single game scoring records with 62 points Friday night.

Anthony's scoring barrage in New York's game against the Charlotte Bobcats occurred largely in the game's first three quarters during which Melo racked up 56 points including a buzzer-beating half-court shot as the first half came to a close.

Anthony started the fourth quarter despite the Knicks leading the Bobcats by 35, and played until he bested Kobe Bryant's Garden-record 61 points before going to the bench to the cheers of the hometown crowd.
