The Atlanta Falcons have asked veteran defensive end Osi Umenyiora to take a pay cut, reports FoxSports.com's Mike Garafolo.

Umenyiora, 32, had 47 tackles, 7.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and one interception in his first season in Atlanta. He spent the first nine seasons of his career with the New York Giants, helping the team win two Super Bowl championships.

Umenyiora is set to make $3.5 million next season, which includes a $500,000 roster bonus due on March 25.
