The Sacramento Kings are interested in trading for Minnesota forward Kevin Love despite not having assurance that the All-Star would re-sign with the Kings after the season, Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports reports.

Citing a league source, Spears reports that the Kings would be willing to give up the No. 8 pick in this year's NBA draft and a combination of players for Love.

Love would be unlikely to immediately sign a contract extension with the small-market Kings , the source told Spears.

Love has said he plans to opt out of his contract in the summer of 2015, and there has been speculation he would leave Minnesota. As a result, his name has emerged as a possible trade candidate.

Sacramento went 28-54 last season and missed the playoffs for the eighth straight year.
