Makaay out for Dutch Olympic match vs. U.S.

Foppe de Haan is facing some problems in preparing the Netherlands for their next match Olympic encounter. He won't be able to use his captain Roy Makaay, with midfielder Evander Sno also unavailable.

Makaay didn't make it to the final whistle of the match against Nigeria after a tackle on his ankle. He went to the hospital for a scans on Friday and, while his ankle isn't broken, it's severely bruised. Heerenveen forward Gerald Sibon is likely to replace Makaay for the match against the U.S.

Celtic midfielder Evander Sno received a red card and will be suspended for the upcoming match. It's not yet known how many matches he will be forced to watch from the sideline.

Still, Friday's training brought positive news for Erik Pieters. The PSV starlet missed the opening match against Nigeria because of knee problems, but looked fully recovered during the session.

Not everyone participated, though. Goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer's deputy Piet Velthuizen sat out of practice after complaining that he felt unwell.
