Wizards fire head coach Onalfo, assistant Kelderman

The Kansas City Wizards have fired head coach Curt Onalfo as well as his assistant, Kris Kelderman. The move comes following a 6-0 battering at the hands of FC Dallas.

"Our shareholder group is thankful for Curt Onalfo's service over the last two-and-a-half seasons, but we felt a change needed to be made," OnGoal CEO and Wizards president Robb Heineman said. "We are committed to developing high-performance and consistency around our club."

The Brazilian-born former United States international had led the Wizards to two consecutive playoff births. Kansas City sits sixth in the East, where only the New York Red Bulls have a worse record.

An interim coach will be announced on Tuesday.
