Bob Bradley's Egypt rebounds, tops Zambia in friendly

Bob Bradley's time as Egypt's national team manager sure appears to be nearing its end, but the former U.S. national team boss oversaw a bounce-back performance on Thursday while still in charge of the African side.

In preparation for the second leg of Egypt's African World Cup qualifying playoff series with Ghana -- one in which Egypt trails 6-1 on aggregate after the first leg -- the Pharaohs topped 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winner Zambia 2-0 in Cairo behind first-half goals from Amr Zaki and Rami Rabia.

Bradley, whose position as Egypt boss was put in question after the first-leg Ghana loss despite his commitment to the national team amid a tumultuous period in the country's history, will hope for a grander performance on Tuesday, when Egypt hosts Ghana in the second leg in Cairo. It would take a 5-0 miracle (or a six-goal win if Ghana scores) against the vaunted Black Stars for Egypt to advance to its first World Cup since 1990.
