Ronaldo's presence on the SI World Cup Preview Cover marks a first for him, though, and he'll be aiming for another first this summer: Lifting the World Cup trophy with Portugal. All that's missing from Ronaldo's glittering career resume is a major international trophy, something that has evaded not only him, but all compatriots before him.

Doing so in Brazil, where his namesake, "El Fenomeno" Ronaldo, will be watching, would cap his iconic year in the most glorious way. Of course, it won't be easy. A Group of Death awaits for Ronaldo's Portugal, and the onus falls on the superstar to guide his team back to the knockout stage before setting sights on a legacy-cementing moment at the Maracana.
