David Beckham's Miami MLS plans on hold until stadium secured

As part of his playing career in the MLS, Beckham was allowed the option to found a franchise at a discounted rate. He has been unsuccessful so far in finding a suitable stadium in Miami.

Beckham had eyed land near where the Miami Heat play their home games, but the city did not approve his plans.

Garber said the franchise expansion will not be officially established until a stadium plan is secured.

"Miami remains a top priority for us," Garber told ESPN's Alexi Lalas. "But we are mindful of the challenges we had in the past and must have the right ownership group and stadium location. David has been working to secure additional partners, all if approved, would be terrific MLS owners. David and his partners have not yet been able to secure a site that we believe provides the proper access and iconic presence that will help ensure success.
