Atletico's Diego Simeone banned eight matches after ref incident
The Spanish Football Federation has banned Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone for eight matches after he was sent off in the 25th minute of the Spanish Super Cup.
According to The Guardian, Simeone's suspension was four games for tapping the back of the official's head, two games for protesting, one game for applauding his sending-off and one game for staying in the stadium stands after he was sent off.

Atlético's assistant coach, Germán Burgos, will manage the club while Simeone is serving his suspension.
Simeone told the media before Monday’s opening La Liga game against Rayo Vallecano: ‘“What happened the other day is a closed issue. Reiterating and talking about the same thing is not good. The people who have to make a decision will do what they believe to be fair. When one makes a mistake it’s fair to pay for it.”
Simeone said he will watch Atlético's matches "from another place.”
In July, Simeone was suspended for one match of European play for misconduct during the Champions League final in May.
