USMNT defender Geoff Cameron to have hernia surgery
United States men's national team and Stoke City defender Geoff Cameron is scheduled for hernia surgery on Wednesday, the Stoke Sentinel reports.
Cameron, 29, played the first half of Stoke's Aug. 27 match against Portsmouth, but has not played since because of the injury. Cameron had been called in by Jurgen Klinsmann for the USA's friendly against the Czech Republic on Sept. 3 only to have to withdraw with the ailment.

Stoke assistant manager Mark Bowen said the injury has been bothering Cameron for a while, and there is no timetable for his return.
"He started feeling it last season, then obviously went to the World Cup and came back to us still feeling a bit sore.
"These things tend to manifest themselves over a period of months and now the time has come, but it's difficult to say how long we will lose him for."
Last month Cameron requested a transfer from Stoke, reportedly with an eye on heading elsewhere so he could play in central defense. He has been used as a right back with the Potters. He was not moved prior to the summer transfer deadline, though.
Cameron was a starter for the USMNT during the 2014 World Cup.
