New York City FC is considering building its stadium near the Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens, Capital New York's Gloria Pazmino reports.

The franchise is looking into a site near the racetrack because a plan to build in the Bronx didn't work out, according to the report.

The team was previously looking to build near Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, but a deal never materialized. The Yankees are co-owners of the expansion franchise with English Premier League club Manchester City. In 2015, NYCFC will play its inaugural season at Yankee Stadium.

Pazmino reports the franchise shifted its attention away from the Bronx plan when a tenant changed his mind on the deal.

“The tenant is in one of the old buildings in the area that they needed to vacate, they had agreed on a price, then he changed his mind and the deal fell through,” the source said.

David Villa and Frank Lampard are among the several players the club has signed as it prepares to make its MLS debut.
