Real Salt Lake finalizes extensions for Kyle Beckerman, Nick Rimando
Real Salt Lake owner Dell Loy Hansen announced that the club has recently finalized three-year contract extensions for midfielder Kyle Beckerman and goalkeeper Nick Rimando, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.
Hansen also said the club has purchased the rights to Joao Plata, with a five-year contract "on the cusp" of being finalized.
Beckerman, 32, has spent the last eight seasons with RSL. In 2014, he started 28 games, scored three goals and added three assists. He was also part of the 23-man roster for the U.S. men's national team in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, starting at defensive midfielder during all three group stage matches before sitting out the team's round of 16 loss to Belgium.
Rimando, 35, has also been with RSL for the last eight seasons. In 2014, Rimando started 24 games, going 13-4-7 while saving 71 shots and allowing 25. He also recorded seven shutouts.
The keeper was also part of the U.S. 23-man World Cup roster.

Plata, 22, led RSL with 13 goals and added six assists in 26 games (24 starts) during his breakout season. Acquired in a 2012 trade with Toronto FC, Plata scored four goals in 29 matches.
Real Salt Lake's moves come after general manager Garth Lagerwey was hired away by the Seattle Sounders on Monday. The club also parted ways with veterans Nat Borchers, Ned Grabavoy, Chris Wingert and Robbie Findley last week.
