Everton and U.S. men's national team goalkeeper Tim Howard will miss four to six weeks with a torn calf muscle in his left leg, reports Goal.com.

Howard sustained the injury during Everton's loss to Stoke City on Friday, then missed Everton's loss to Newcastle on Sunday because of it.

Last month, Howard was voted the 2014 U.S. Soccer Male Athlete of the Year, and earlier in December he won the 2014 Futbol de Primera Player of the Year award.

Howard is currently taking a year off from the USMNT after making eight appearances for the U.S. this year, including at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The 35-year-old had a World Cup-record 15 saves in the USA's 2-1 knockout round loss to Belgium and finished with 28 saves in four games.

Everton is currently in 12th place in the Premier League and has lost four of its last five games.
