Leicester City gains valuable points with 1-0 win over Aston Villa in EPL
LEICESTER, England (AP) — Last-place Leicester continued its resurgence with a 1-0 win at home to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.
Paul Konchesky put Leicester ahead on the stroke of halftime with a left-foot strike from the center of the penalty area, and United States goalkeeper Brad Guzan got his fingertips to a header from Leonardo Ulloa to prevent the hosts doubling the score after 53 minutes.
Nigel Pearson's side continued to push for a second and midfielder Marc Albrighton was stopped from scoring against his former club with a piercing drive by another great save from Guzan.
Leicester's Matty James and Villa's Ciaran Clark were both red-carded by referee Michael Oliver for clashing in the final moments of the game.
The victory means Leicester is now unbeaten in four matches.
