Former U.S. men's national team coach Bob Gansler has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke on Saturday, according to Wisconsin Soccer Central.

Bavarian SC director of coaching Bob Spielmann told WSC that the 73-year-old Gansler was able to be moved out of intensive care on Sunday after his condition improved enough.

Gansler coached the USMNT from 1989 to 1991, including at the 1990 World Cup, which was the country's first appearance at the tournament in 40 years. He was inducted into the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame in 2011.

From 1999 to 2006, Gansler coached the Kansas City Wizards of the MLS, now known as Sporting KC.
