Harry Redknapp resigns as manager of QPR
Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp resigned on Tuesday, saying he cannot lead the team because he needs knee surgery, the team announced.
Redknapp, 67, has been with QPR since 2012. The club said that Head of football operations Les Ferdinand and academy coach Chris Ramsey will be in charge until future notice.
"Sadly I need immediate surgery on my knee which is going to stop me from doing my job in the coming weeks," Redknapp said. "It means I won’t be able to be out on the training pitch every day, and if I can’t give 100 percent I feel it’s better for someone else to take over the reins."

During his three seasons and 105 games with the club, Redknapp had a 36-26-43 mark. QPR is currently 19th in the Premier League Standings going into their match Saturday against Southampton.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank Harry for everything he has done for QPR during his time in charge. We part on good terms and I would personally like to wish him all the best for the future." QPR chairman Tony Fernandes.
Redknapp has also coached Bournemouth, West Ham United, Portsmouth, Southampton and Tottenham in his career, and was named the Premier League Manager of the Year for the 2009-10 season.
