Hawk-Eye to provide goal-line technology for Women’s World Cup
Hawk-Eye will provide the goal-line technology for the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada, FIFA announced on Tuesday.
It will be the first time the technology is used during a Women’s World Cup after it was successfully used at the World Cup, Confederations Cup and three Club World Cups.
Hawk-Eye will install seven cameras as high as possible at each of the stadium venues for the tournament—Edmonton, Moncton, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver and Winnipeg—with the use to be subject to installation tests at each stadium.

With the use of high-frame-rate cameras and vision-processing techniques, Hawk-Eye is able to locate the ball at times when it may only be found by two of the seven cameras in the system.
It is then able to indicate whether or not a goal has been scored within one second and send both a vibrating and visual signal to the watch of each match official.
This will be Hawk-Eye’s second FIFA event, having also provided the technology at the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup in Japan. FIFA has also contracted with GoalControl GmbH and Fraunhofer IIS (GoalRef) for the technology in the past.
The Women’s World Cup runs from June 6 through July 5.
