France selected as host of 2019 Women’s World Cup

Thursday March 19th, 2015

France has been selected to host the 2019 Women’s World Cup, FIFA announced on Thursday.

France and South Korea were the two finalists to host the tournament, and FIFA announced the decision during a press conference in Zurich.

The Women’s World Cup has never been played in France, and it will be the third time the tournament is played in Europe. The Men’s World Cup was played in France in 1938 and 1998.

Canada will host the 2015 Women’s World Cup, which will be held from June 6 through July 5.
