Watch: Lionel Messi scores with beautiful curling shot vs. Almeria

Lionel Messi scored with a superb curling effort from a tough angle, putting Barcelona up 1-0 over Almeria in a La Liga matchup on Wednesday.

Breaking news from Barcelona: Lionel Messi is very, very good at scoring goals.

Sources indicate that the Argentinian has done so yet again on Wednesday, with a superb curling effort from a tough angle putting Barcelona up 1-0 over Almeria in a midweek La Liga matchup.

• Track Messi, Ronaldo's record number of Champions League goals

SI.com can independently confirm that the goal in question is indeed quite impressive. After receiving the ball on the right flank, Messi cuts inside, draws the attention of pretty much all the Almeria defenders, finds a sliver of space in a seemingly innocuous area, then uses his left foot to curl the ball around everyone, nestling the sphere into the side netting of the far post.

The goal is Messi's 33rd of the La Liga campaign for Barcelona, who currently hold a four-point lead at the top of the table. There is rampant speculation that it will not be his last.

UPDATE (3:15 p.m. ET) -- It appears that Messi's actions have inspired a copycat. Footage released on Wednesday indicates that Luis Suarez, fellow Barcelona striker and one of Messi's most high-profile associates, has scored an eerily similar goal from the same side of the field to put Barcelona up 2-0.

That goal is Suarez's ninth of the La Liga season.
