UEFA president Michel Platini is the betting favorite to be elected as FIFA's new president, according to odds from British bookmaker William Hill

Current FIFA president Sepp Blatter announced his intention to resign on Tuesday, amid the organization's ongoing corruption scandal. FIFA rules dictate that an election to select his replacement cannot be held for at least four months. The election is expected to take place some time between next December and March, FIFA compliance chief Domenico Scala said Tuesday.

Platini is a 6–5 favorite, narrowly edging Prince Ali bin al-Hussein of Jordan. Hussein was Blatter's only opponent in the election held last week where Blatter was chosen to serve a fifth term in office. Portuguese soccer legend Luis Figo, who withdrew from last week's election, is listed at 6–1.
