Boy comes out of coma, asks if Juventus is still in Champions League
When an Italian teenager who survived 42 minutes underwater awoke from a month-long coma recently, the first thing he asked was whether his favorite team, Italian soccer club Juventus, was still alive in Champions League play, according to The Telegraph.
The boy, 14, jumped off of a bridge into a body of water less than seven feet deep. Authorities formed a chain of human rescuers to drag the boy from the water. When he got to shore, the boy the was unconscious and had no pulse.
But after spending a month connected to an oxygenation machine that propelled his lungs and heart, the boy miraculously came out of the coma.
The doctor responsible for seeing the young man through, who is former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi's personal physician, called the boy's recovery, “the greatest satisfaction of my entire professional career.”
Perhaps that was because he awoke to some great news: Juventus has advanced to the Champions League final on Saturday and will take on Barcelona.
