Former FIFA vice president Jack Warner appeared on Trinidadian TV Wednesday night, vowing to expose FIFA’s illicit involvement in the 2010 Trinidad & Tobago national election.

Warner, who was arrested last week as one of 14 soccer officials indicted by the United States in the FIFA corruption scandal, faces eight counts in the U.S., including conspiracy to defraud and to engage in racketeering. U.S. officials allege that Warner received three payments totaling $10 million believed to be sent by FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke in exchange for a vote to give South Africa the 2010 World Cup.

In his paid political advertisement on Trinidadian TV Wednesday night, Warner said he had “witnessed the treachery of this government” while vowing to provide evidence linking FIFA to the 2010 elections that put the People’s Partnership coalition into power in Trinidad & Tobago.

Warner later appeared at a rally for his Independent Liberal Party held on a residential street with “at least a couple hundred people” present, according to the Associated Press. Warner denied receiving a bribe and repeated that he fears for his life.

“Not even death will stop the avalanche that is coming,” Warner said at the rally. “The die is cast. There can be no turning back. Let the chips fall where they fall.”
