Watch: Wayne Rooney ties Sir Bobby Charlton's English goal-scoring record

Wayne Rooney has tied Sir Bobby Charlton’s England goal-scoring record by notching international tally No. 49 on Saturday vs. San Marino.

Rooney connected from the penalty spot in the 13th minute to give England a 1–0 lead at the San Marino Stadium in Serravalle as part of a qualifier for the 2016 UEFA European Championship.

The Croxteth, Liverpool native made his senior international debut in February 2003 at 17 years old and has played in 106 matches for his country. He is also England’s youngest-ever goalscorer.

Charlton represented England from 1958 to ’70 and was a part of England's lone World Cup-winning squad in ’66.
