U.S. announces roster changes before friendly against Brazil
United States Men's National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann announced changes to the team's roster Sunday ahead of the U.S.'s friendly against Brazil on Sept. 8.
There will be three additions to the roster of the team that defeated Peru on Sept. 4. Midfielder Michael Bradley, goalkeeper Sean Johnson and forward Jordan Morris will join the U.S., bringing its roster to 25 players.
Forward Clint Dempsey was scheduled to join the team ahead of the Brazil friendly, but he will remain with his MLS club the Seattle Sounders as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Defender Matt Besler and goalkeeper William Yarbrough will leave the national team to rejoin their club squads.
“I had a good conversation with Clint,” Klinsmann said in the announcement. “He’s still not 100 percent and we agreed it’s best to let him stay with Seattle to allow him to continue making progress ahead of next month’s match against Mexico.”

The U.S. defeated Peru in a comeback win last Friday. The U.S. will face Mexico in a Confederations Cup playoff in October.
