Washington Spirit forward Crystal Dunn voted NWSL MVP
Washington Spirit forward Crystal Dunn was voted the National Women's Soccer League’s Most Valuable Player, the league announced Wednesday.
Dunn, 23, is the youngest player to win the award, surpassing last year's MVP, Kim Little, who was 24 at the time she won.
Dunn also won her third consecutive NWSL Golden Boot award with 15 goals in 20 games, good for second in league history.
Dunn led the league in shots (84) and shots on goal (48), and recorded three assists while playing 1,711 minutes. She won player of the week honors a record six times, and was August's player of the month.
The award is voted on collaboratively by journalists, club officials, players and fans.

Dunn is coming off a return to the U.S. women's national team, where she scored her first two international goals in friendly wins over Haiti. She excelled in NWSL after being looked over for the World Cup squad and released the following statement after winning league MVP honors:
