Aston Villa F.C. fired manager Tim Sherwood on Sunday, the club announced in a statement on its website.

The decision comes a day after Aston Villa failed to hold on to a lead in a 2–1 loss to Swansea City.

The loss is the fourth-straight for Aston Villa and the sixth in its last seven matches. The club was dropped six consecutive league fixtures and currently sits 19th in the Premier League standings with a 1–1–8 record.

From the Club’s statement: "The Board has monitored the performances closely all season and believes the results on the pitch were simply not good enough and that a change is imperative."

Sherwood was hired by Aston Villa to take over for Paul Lambert on Feb. 14, 2015. He started his managerial career with Tottenham Hotspur in 2013, coaching the team for two seasons before being fired.
