Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin is expected to be out for around three months after sustaining knee ligament damage during the team’s 2–1 loss to West Bromwich on Saturday, reports Phil McNulty of BBC.

The club is already dealing with several significant injuries. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere are among the Arsenal players currently sidelined.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said Coquelin’s absence will provide other players with the opportunity to step up.

“We have players that play in Coquelin’s position like Mathieu Flamini and others that can play in his position like Calum Chambers,” Wenger said. “Sometimes it is an opportunity for others to show they can do the job.”
