Report: Philadelphia Union acquiring Chris Pontius from D.C. United
The Philadelphia Union are acquiring attacker Chris Pontius from D.C. United, reports Goal.com’s Ives Galarcep.
According to the report, the deal, which is said to be in exchange for allocation money, will likely be announced next week.
Pontius, 28, had spent his entire seven-season MLS career with D.C. United. In 23 matches during the 2015 season, Pontius registered three goals and one assist.
Pontius earned Best XI all-league honors in 2012 after scoring 12 goals and recording four assists on the year. His production has since declined, as he has dealt with a slew of injuries over the past three seasons.

Pontius had a contract option with United for 2016, but according to reports, both sides “knew it was time to move on.”
The Washington Post reports that in a separate deal, United will acquire midfielder/forward Lamar Neagle from the Seattle Sounders.
