Report: Colorado Rapids interested in signing USA's Tim Howard
The Colorado Rapids are reportedly looking to sign Everton and U.S. men's national team goalkeeper Tim Howard, according to ESPN FC.
The Rapids hold the No. 1 spot in the MLS allocation order after acquiring it in a trade with the Chicago Fire during Thursday's MLS SuperDraft. The allocation order is used to distribute U.S. men's national team and U.S. youth national team players in addition to returning players who previously left MLS for a transfer fee.
Howard remains under contract at Everton until 2018 and has previously said that he will play his contract out before retiring after the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Howard recorded a clean sheet with a 0–0 draw against Manchester City on Wednesday.
Howard will be 39 at the next World Cup and looks to follow up a performance in which he recorded 15 saves in the round-of-16 defeat against Belgium. It would be his fourth World Cup team after playing for the U.S. 106 times, including at the 2010 and 2014 tournaments. He was unused at the 2006 World Cup.

Colorado is still reportedly hoping to add Mexican forward Alan Pulido, according to ESPN FC, and reportedly has the discovery rights to Mexico's Carlos Vela as well, which gives the club first priority should he sign with MLS. The club was rebuffed in its efforts to sign U.S. midfielder Alejandro Bedoya, who, along with Howard, is on MLS's fixed list of players subjected to the allocation order in 2016.
