Reports: Goalkeeper Tim Howard likely to join Colorado Rapids in May
Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard is likely to join the Colorado Rapids of MLS in May, reports NBC Sports’s Joe Prince-Wright.
The report was later confirmed by ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle.
Howard could sign with the Rapids in January and then join the team after the Premier League season in May, reports NBC Sports. Howard is expected to command a salary between $2–3 million, according to ESPN, which would make him the highest paid goalkeeper in MLS.
The Rapids traded goalkeeper Clint Irwin to Toronto earlier this month.

Howard, a long-time star for the U.S. Men’s National Team, signed a four-year contract with Everton in 2014. He has played for the club since 2006, initially on loan and then starting permanently in 2007. Howard previously played in MLS from 1999–2003.
Howard has appeared in over 400 matches for Everton, withstanding criticism after recent struggles. Howard turns 37 in March.
